Virtual Islands – Olivia McGilchrist
Volumetric capture with Depthkit for a VR experience exploring Caribbean futures and postcolonial submersion.
A VR experience showcasing volumetric video of aerial performer Keely Whitelaw responding gesturally to an underwater virtual environment. Created using Depthkit Studio’s 10-sensor depth camera system with Zù Montreal’s support.
The work explores the relationship between Caribbean futures — as an alternative to Western techno-futurism — and submersion as postcolonial VR practice.
Role
Volumetric capture team (Depthkit operation).
